Irish .ie Domain Name Registration : Accredited .ie (IEDR) Reseller

As well as offering the full range of ‘normal’ TLD (Top Level Domains), we are now pleased to also offer Irish .ie domain registrations, as Red Rhino is an Accredited .ie (IEDR) Reseller. 

Irish .ie domain names are available to register by any company or organisation based in Northern Ireland and  the Republic of Ireland.

However, if you are based in mainland UK (England, Scotland or Wales), you may be able to register an Irish .ie domain name if you can demonstrate trade or commercial activity within Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland.

When you ask us to order on your behalf, the Registrar will require you to show a connection to Ireland through having one of the following;

  • Examples of Customers in Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland (having copies of invoices to customers in Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland will normally suffice).
  • A connection such as an agent or office here.
  • An Irish, European Community or UK Trade Mark which the domain name you want is extracted from.

Please contact us to check if your company should be able to register an Irish .ie domain name. All registration submissions are subject to review by the IEDR and, if we feel that there are reasonable grounds for making a registration submission, we will do so but you will not be charged if the application is not accepted.

Why register an Irish .ie domain name?

  • If you are based in (or trade within) Northern Ireland and/or the Republic of Ireland, it would give you a ‘local’ domain name which is very recognisable.
  • If you are based in Great Britain and intend developing or maximising your business in Northern Ireland and/or the Republic of Ireland.
  • If you wish to protect you company name or brand.
  • Irish .ie domains are often given prominence in www.google.ie (which is widely used in ROI) and other Irish search engines, more so than .com/co.uk domains.

As the rules have been relaxed recently, you should grab your .ie name when you still can!
